Mum's The Word...

In honour of Mother's Day, today's post is dedicated to the woman who brought me into this world and is still helping me navigate my way through it.

Five things only my Mum could have taught me:

- Embrace the mane that is masquerading itself as my hair

- Men may think they wear the trousers but it is only because women let them believe that

- No matter how old your are, Mum knows best

- There's never a reason to not go shopping

- Don't give up on a dream, even if that means going back to it ten years later

The Sunday Lunch Post...

It's somewhat of a family tradition to go over to my Nan's for Sunday lunch. It's been happening for as long as I can remember and it was one of the things I missed most when I was at uni. Every now and again we'll spice things up and head to our local pub so that Nan gets a break from cooking and my sister and I don't have to do the washing up!

For me, Sunday lunch is about catching up and spending some quality time together whilst enjoying a good old roast and of course dessert. Sunday's have become so closely connected with family that it's something I want to continue doing when I have one of my own.

Glorious Greenwich...

As we only live 10 minutes away from Greenwich, last weekend Ben and I took advantage of the glorious sunshine and had a wander around the park and market. It was lovely to spend some time in the sun and feel like Spring is finally on its way. It'll probably come as no surprise that I particularly enjoyed the sweet treats that the market had to offer - I don't think there will ever be a day when I say no to a cake or a doughnut!!

(Sorry this post is a bit photo heavy, I got a bit snap happy)

It was probably a good thing that I didn't have that much loose change otherwise who knows how many churros or cakes in a jar I would have ended up walking home with?! I always forget how much I love Greenwich and how much I loved going there as a child to scoot round the park with my sister. Now that the sun is starting to make more of an appearance I'm definitely going to try get to the park more often.

Words Are All We Have, We'll Be Talking, We'll Be Talking...

On Thursday, Ben and I headed to North London to see Bastille perform at Alexandra Palace. I remember buying the tickets last year and thinking March was ages away but it has somehow crept up on us really quickly! Neither of us had been to Alexandra Palace or the park it's in before so headed to the venue straight from work to have a bit of a wander.

Alexandra Palace or Ally Pally as it's affectionately known has a festival vibe inside. There's a courtyard with food stalls, a couple of bars and a grassed seating area where local musicians play before the concert kicks off.

Bastille were incredible! It was a brilliant night and I'm even more in love with Dan after seeing his slightly awkward yet ultimately cool dancing. I'm now going to go back to listening to their album which I've had on repeat since Thursday.

An Ode To The 90s...

The 90s was filled with episodes of Friends,
While ponytails were tightly secured with coloured scrunchies;
Oh how I rejoice at the resurrection of such trends!

Days were filled feeding my Tamagotchi,
All the while trying to look like Mary-Kate and Ashley.
Who could forget the curtains of Ben from A1?
Rapping along to The Fresh Prince of Bell Air,
Spice Girls platforms were all that I'd wear.
Now that I'm older and grown up, I can see that the 90s were all about fun!

This dungaree dress makes me feel very 90s and nostalgic for my Primary School years. They got me thinking back to those beloved years and reasons to love that decade:
  •  Mary-Kate and Ashley
  • Scrunchies
  • Spice Girl platform trainers
  • Friends
  • Britney
  • Dial up internet
  • Tamagotchis
  • Jelly shoes
  • Buffy The Vampire Slayer
  • Tattoo chokers
  • Stick on earrings
  • Rugrats
  • Pokemon
  • A1

I've now spent the last few days spending way too much time looking through things like this and this...
