Backyard Cinema...

I love a love story. So when I saw that Backyard Cinema was going to be showing Baz Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliet, I knew I had to get tickets. Ever since my Year 9 English teacher showed us sections of the film to help us understand Shakespeare's text, I've been slightly obsessed. It felt like we had to wait ages for 2nd April to come around, but yesterday was finally the day to see Leo on the big screen!
The showing took place in St Mary's Church, a few roads away from Marylebone station, with a live choir accompanying the film. Walking in, every detail added to the experience; from the staff dressed in flowery shirts to the blue crosses lining the aisles to the screen surrounded by flowers and candles. In traditional pop-up cinema style, we settled into our deck chairs with popcorn and old fashioned cola in hand ready for the film to start. 24 hours later and I still can't get over how incredible it was seeing the film in such an amazing setting with a magical live choir. If only I could wind back the clock and see it all over again!
