Yesterday my younger sister turned 18, I can't believe she's officially an adult! It makes me feel really old. As she's allergic to all preservatives as wells as many other things such as chocolate and berries, I opted to make her a cake. Seeing as she's limited to what she can have, I took to good old Google to find a recipe for something new and suitable. I knew I wanted to make some sort of banana cake but I needed to find one that had the least amount of ingredients possible in order to make sure she didn't have a reaction. It didn't take me long to find the perfect recipe!

The recipe I used can be found here, I adapted it slightly by not using the sponsored brand products and by leaving out the poppy seeds and sultanas. It was pretty simple to make, the only slightly annoying thing is the hour and fifteen minutes it takes to cook - I was worried about burning the top so spent the entire time sat in the kitchen constantly checking the cake!

I topped the cake with some vanilla flavoured butter icing and more bananas. Although it's not a typical birthday cake, I'm really pleased with how it came out! It also tasted delicious (even if I do say so myself ha). My sister also loved it which was the main thing. I'll definitely make this cake again and I'm pretty certain it'll become a family favourite.
Have you found any new recipes that you love?
That's funny, I made a banana cake yesterday! What a strange cake to make for sommeone's birthday, lovely idea. Hope she had a wonderful birthday.
ReplyDeleteI got my recipe from BBC, it turned out lovely. x
Nothing beats a good banana cake! Yeah, it is a little strange but a nice change. Oh, I may have to try and find that recipe!
